A very warm welcome to Pretoria Technical High School, and a special welcome to our newest members of the PTHS family — our Grade 8 learners. Today marks the beginning of an exciting and important chapter in your high school journey, and we are proud to welcome you to a school known for excellence, discipline, skills development, and opportunity.
Pretoria Technical High School is a school of skills, innovation, and excellence. Here, you are not only prepared to pass exams, but to develop practical, technical abilities that can lead to careers, further studies, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship. The work you do in our classrooms and workshops prepares you for the real world.
Grade 8 is a big step. You are entering a school that values both academic learning and technical skills. At Pretoria Technical High School, you will be challenged to think, to create, to solve problems, and to prepare yourselves for the world beyond school. You are not expected to have all the answers yet — this year is about growth, discovery, and building a strong foundation.

Grade 9 learners, this is where your technical journey begins. The habits you develop now—punctuality, discipline, respect for tools, equipment, and instructions—will shape your success throughout your high school years.
Grades 10 and 11 learners, this is the stage where your skills are refined. The quality of your work, your commitment to safety, and your attitude in the workshop and classroom will determine the opportunities available to you after school. Take your training seriously and aim for excellence.
Grade 12 learners, this is your final year at Pretoria Technical High School. This is not a practice year—this is the real one. You are the leaders, the standard-setters, and the role models of this school. How you conduct yourselves in the classroom and in the workshop matters. How hard you work matters.
This year will demand discipline, consistency, and sacrifice. There will be pressure, deadlines, and moments of doubt—but there will also be pride, growth, and achievement. The skills and qualifications you earn this year will follow you long after you leave our gates.

At a technical school, discipline and safety are non-negotiable. Respect your teachers, workshop instructors, and fellow learners. Follow all safety rules at all times. Treat equipment with care and understand that professionalism begins here.
Mistakes are part of learning a skill, but repeating unsafe behaviour is not acceptable. Learn from errors, improve your techniques, and always strive to do better. Support one another and take pride in the work you produce.
As you begin this year, set clear goals for both your academic and technical subjects. Be punctual, committed, and focused. Your teachers and instructors are here to guide and support you, but your success depends on the effort you put in every day.
